  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup Adds sweetness and flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Helps the cake rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Gives the characteristic flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce Adds moisture.
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted Adds richness.

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, mix the ground flaxseed with water and let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.
  • In a microwave-safe mug, combine the almond flour, gluten-free all-purpose flour, maple syrup, baking powder, cinnamon, applesauce, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract.
  • Stir in the flaxseed mixture until well combined.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar on top and swirl it into the batter slightly.
  • Microwave on high for 1-2 minutes, or until cooked through. Start with 1 minute and check.
  • Let it cool for a minute before enjoying your warm cinnamon roll directly from the mug.

Notes
