  • 1 block firm tofu, cubed Use tempeh or chickpeas as substitutes.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Garlic can burn easily, keep an eye on it.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Use tamari or coconut aminos for gluten-free.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Can substitute with neutral oil, but may lose flavor.
  • 1-2 tablespoons chili sauce Adjust to your spice preference.
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (like peas, carrots, and corn) Fresh, frozen, or leftover vegetables can be used.
  • 2 green onions, chopped Adds flavor and visual appeal.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Press the tofu by wrapping it in a kitchen towel and placing a heavy object on top for 15-20 minutes.
  • Cube the tofu and fry it in a non-stick pan with oil over medium heat until golden and crispy.
  • Sauté minced garlic in the same pan with sesame oil until fragrant.
  • Add mixed vegetables and stir-fry until tender.
  • Incorporate the cooked rice and soy sauce, stirring to break clumps.
  • Fold in the crispy tofu and chili sauce, mixing until well combined.
  • Season with salt and pepper, and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

For the best texture, use day-old rice. Adjust chili sauce for desired spice level. Serve with drinks like iced green tea and side dishes like cucumber salad.
