Main Ingredients

  • 3 lbs chicken drumsticks 10–12 pieces
  • 1.5 lbs baby potatoes halved if large

Sauce Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup honey Substitute with maple syrup or agave nectar if needed.
  • 0.25 cup low-sodium soy sauce Tamari can be used for gluten-free.
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2-3 tbsp fresh minced garlic
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.25 tsp crushed red pepper flakes Optional
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp cornstarch Optional for slurry.
  • 2 tsp water Optional for slurry.
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter Optional for glaze.
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley For garnish.
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds For garnish.

Instructions
 

Mix the Sauce

  • In a bowl, stir together the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, crushed red pepper flakes, black pepper, and kosher salt.

Prepare the Potatoes

  • Place the halved baby potatoes at the bottom of your slow cooker.

Arrange the Chicken

  • Place the chicken drumsticks on top of the potatoes in the slow cooker.

Pour the Sauce

  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and potatoes.

Cook

  • Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.

Optional Glaze

  • Transfer the cooking liquid to a saucepan, simmer, and whisk in the cornstarch slurry.

Brush with Glaze

  • Use a brush to apply the thickened glaze over the chicken.

Garnish and Serve

  • Garnish with parsley and sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Notes

Ensure the chicken is not overcrowded in the slow cooker for even cooking. Use fresh ingredients for best flavor.
