  • 1 pound breakfast sausage Feel free to use turkey sausage or Italian sausage for variation.
  • 1 package crescent roll dough Can substitute with puff pastry for a different texture.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite) Any melty cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack works well.
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions Optional; provides added flavor.
  • 1 unit egg (for egg wash) Beaten egg to apply on top for a golden finish.
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough on a lightly floured surface, pressing seams together.
  • Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the dough and sprinkle with cheese and green onions, if using.
  • Starting from one end, roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 1-inch pieces.
  • Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the tops of the pinwheels.
  • Place the pinwheels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 10 minutes.
