  • 4 cups Rice Chex cereal Can be substituted with Corn Chex.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sift before adding to avoid lumps.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Semi-sweet, but dark or white chocolate can also be used.
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter Crunchy peanut butter or almond butter can be used as alternatives.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter Melted butter for the chocolate mixture.
  • 1 cup M&M's (holiday colors) Choose festive colors for a holiday theme.
  • 1 cup pretzels Break into smaller pieces for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup festive sprinkles Use colorful sprinkles for decoration.

Preparation

  • Melt the butter, peanut butter, and chocolate chips in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  • In a large bowl, combine the Rice Chex and pretzels.
  • Pour the melted mixture over the cereal and pretzels, stirring gently to coat.
  • Sprinkle the powdered sugar over the mixture and stir until all pieces are coated.
  • Fold in the M&Ms and festive sprinkles.
  • Spread the mixture on a baking sheet lined with wax paper to cool.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to a month. It doesn't typically require reheating.
