  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast Can substitute with active dry yeast but needs activation in warm water.
  • 1 cup warm water About 110°F or 43°C.
  • 1/4 cup olive oil Can be replaced with other neutral oils, affecting flavor slightly.
  • 3 cloves garlic Thinly sliced or minced.

Preparation

  • Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and coat it with olive oil.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  • Pour in the warm water and stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the dough and fold it in.
  • Transfer the dough to the prepared sheet pan.
  • Press the dough to fill the pan shape.
  • Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30-45 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Mix remaining olive oil with minced garlic for garlic oil.
  • Once risen, dimple the dough with fingers.
  • Spoon garlic oil over the dimpled dough and sprinkle with salt/herbs.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Serving

  • Cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve warm with savory dips or alongside soups and salads. To keep leftovers, store in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
