Wet Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg Can be substituted with a flax egg for a vegan option.
  • 1/2 cup boiling water Intensifies the chocolate flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add wet ingredients: milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and egg to the dry ingredients. Beat until well combined.
  • Gradually stir in the boiling water until the mixture is smooth.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cooling

  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
