Base Ingredients

  • 1 package Oreo cookies The classic choice, but feel free to try other sandwich cookies.
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter Use crunchy if preferred for a different texture.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Substitute with margarine or vegan butter for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sifting before adding can eliminate lumps.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Melt for the topping.

Preparation

  • Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs.
  • In a bowl, mix the crushed Oreos with melted butter and peanut butter until well combined.
  • Add powdered sugar and mix until combined.
  • Press the mixture into a greased 9x9 inch pan.
  • Melt the chocolate chips and pour over the top of the bars.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  • Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

For added flavor, consider drizzling caramel on top or sprinkling sea salt over the chocolate layer.
