Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or pork.
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs Can use crushed crackers, panko, or rolled oats.
  • 1 large egg Bind the meat mixture.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Use tamari for gluten-free.
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped

For the Sauce

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, soy sauce, ginger, and green onions. Mix until everything is well combined.
  • Form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake the meatballs for 15-20 minutes until they are cooked through and golden brown.

Preparing the Sauce

  • In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, beef broth, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Stir to combine.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until it thickens.

Combining

  • Once the meatballs are done, toss them in the sauce until they’re well coated.
  • Serve the Mongolian Beef Meatballs immediately, garnished with extra green onions if desired.

Notes

These meatballs can be made ahead of time and reheated for quick meals. Perfect for serving over rice or noodles.
