Ingredients
  

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 pound ground beef or lamb Feel free to swap ground beef for ground lamb.
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup frozen peas Fresh peas can be used if available.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Add garlic after the onion has softened.
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Topping

  • 4 cups mashed potatoes Store-bought or homemade may be used.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For sautéing.
  • 1 teaspoon thyme

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  • Add ground meat and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in carrots, peas, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  • In mini pie tins, layer the meat mixture evenly.
  • Top each with a generous layer of mashed potatoes.
  • Bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Consider garnishing with fresh herbs like parsley or chives. This dish can be made ahead and frozen for later use.
