  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli Any variety of frozen ravioli works well for this recipe, including meat or spinach.
  • 3 cups marinara sauce Feel free to use homemade sauce or your favorite store-bought brand.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese You can substitute cottage cheese for a slightly different texture.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Use fresh Parmesan for a richer flavor.
  • to taste Fresh basil for garnish For added flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures even cooking and that your casserole will bubble up nicely.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, and Italian seasoning until smooth.
  • In a greased casserole dish, spread a thin layer of the sauce mixture, then add half of the frozen ravioli. Next, sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the ravioli and cover with another layer of sauce. Repeat the layers ending with mozzarella on top.
  • Finish off by sprinkling the grated Parmesan cheese over the top layer of mozzarella.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving to help it set up a bit.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days. To freeze, wrap individual portions in plastic wrap and then foil for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge before reheating. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes, or until heated through.
