  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Reserve some for topping.
  • 1 cup toffee bits Look for in the baking aisle; may substitute with crushed toffee candy bars.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Omit if using salted butter.
  • 2 large eggs

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time and add the vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and salt, then gradually add this to the wet mixture.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips and toffee bits until evenly distributed.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the bars to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

For cleaner cuts, use a sharp knife and wipe it in between cuts. Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
