  • 1 cup heavy cream Provides rich creaminess; can substitute half-and-half or plant-based cream.
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions Reserve some for topping after baking.
  • 1 tsp soy sauce Use tamari for gluten-free option.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Make sure to preheat for at least 15 minutes.
  • Blanch the green beans in boiling water for about 3 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until softened.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, soy sauce, salt, and pepper, and bring to a simmer.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the green beans and the cream mixture.

Baking

  • Transfer to a baking dish and top with crispy fried onions.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and the top is golden.
  • Serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, warm in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes.
