  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed) Half used for the apple layer.

For the Topping

  • 1 cup gluten-free oats Provides crunch to the topping.
  • 1/2 cup almond flour Can substitute with gluten-free all-purpose or oat flour.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Remaining amount for topping.
  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil or butter Use coconut oil for a dairy-free version.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances the overall flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and half of the brown sugar. Toss until the apples are well-coated, then spread the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • In another bowl, combine the gluten-free oats, almond flour, remaining brown sugar, salt, and melted coconut oil or butter. Mix until the mixture becomes crumbly.

Assembly and Baking

  • Evenly sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples in the baking dish.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgence. Allowing the crisp to cool for 10 minutes can enhance the serving experience.
