Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened) Using unsalted butter allows you to control the saltiness.
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar Adds sweetness and structure.
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar Adds moisture and caramel flavor; can substitute with granulated sugar.
  • 3 large eggs Room temperature eggs are recommended for better incorporation.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Maintains the structure of the brownies.
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Provides rich chocolate flavor; can use Dutch-processed for a mellower taste.
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional) Optional for added chocolate richness.
