Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  • Take each slice of bread and dip it into the batter, coating both sides well and letting it soak briefly.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it bubbles but does not brown.
  • Place the soaked bread slices in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they turn golden and crispy.

Serving

  • Transfer the French toast to a plate and top it with maple syrup, fresh berries, and a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

For a vegan option, use flax eggs and for bread, sourdough or whole wheat can be used as alternatives. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to 2 months.
