  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed) If short on time, pre-rolled sheets are available.
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets Can substitute with other veggies like spinach or cauliflower.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to experiment with other cheeses like mozzarella or gouda.
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 piece egg (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Optional.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Steam the broccoli florets until just tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine steamed broccoli, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8-inch thickness.
  • Cut the pastry into squares. Place a spoonful of the broccoli mixture in the center of each square and fold over to create triangles or rectangles, sealing the edges with a fork.
  • Beat the egg and brush it over the top of each pastry.
  • Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve with a side salad or wine for a delightful meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
