  • 1 cup Fresh tomatoes Can use cherry or vine tomatoes.
  • 1 pinch Sea salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1 pinch Black pepper Freshly ground for added seasoning.
  • A few Fresh basil or cilantro Adds a fragrant note.
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice Helps keep avocado fresh.
  • 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes For a spicy kick.

Preparation

  • Toast the bread slices to your desired crispness. For extra flavor, brush the bread with olive oil before toasting.
  • While the bread is toasting, cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash slightly or leave sliced, adding lemon juice to keep it fresh.
  • Chop the fresh tomatoes into halves or quarters. Sprinkle them with sea salt and black pepper.

Assembly

  • Spread a generous layer of mashed avocado on the toasted bread.
  • Arrange the chopped tomatoes over the avocado.
  • Sprinkle with red pepper flakes and top with fresh basil or cilantro. Drizzle with olive oil for extra flavor.

Notes

Storage: Store unassembled ingredients in an airtight container for max 1 day. For freezing, store sliced bread in a freezer bag for up to 3 months. Reheating: Toast the bread again before serving.
