Ingredients
  

For the Toastie

  • 2 slices slices of bread (white, whole wheat, sourdough, or your favorite type) Choice of bread affects texture; sourdough offers a delightful tang.
  • 2 slices slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice) Mixing cheeses adds flavor and complexity.
  • 1 tbsp butter or cooking spray Butter adds flavor; cooking spray is a low-calorie alternative.

Preparation

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the air fryer basket.
  • Add the cheese on top of the bread.
  • Cover with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.

Cooking

  • Air fry for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway if desired.
  • Carefully remove, let cool for a minute, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, don’t overcrowd the air fryer and choose a sturdy bread. Serve with dips like marinara sauce for added delight. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
