  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk, warmed Keep warm while adding to avoid lumps.
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 4 slices bread, for toasting Use your choice of bread.
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish
  • Salt, to taste (optional) Dried beef is salty, so adjust accordingly.

Preparation

  • Gather and prepare all ingredients before starting the cooking process.

Cooking

  • Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat.
  • Add the chopped dried beef and cook for 2-3 minutes until heated and slightly crisp.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the beef and stir constantly for about 1 minute to form a roux.
  • Gradually whisk in warmed milk, stirring until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper; adjust salt if needed.
  • Toast the bread slices until crispy and golden brown.
  • Spoon the creamy beef mixture over toasted bread and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Freeze the beef mixture for up to a month. Toast the bread fresh each time for best texture. Avoid making large batches if cooking for one or two.
