  • 1 large egg Consider using a flax egg for a vegan alternative.
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika Smoked paprika can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 0.25 cup ketchup Can substitute with barbecue sauce or spicy salsa.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let it sit until the breadcrumbs are softened, about 5-10 minutes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, finely diced onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, paprika, dried parsley, and ketchup. Mix until just combined.
  • Transfer the meat mixture into your prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake uncovered for 50 to 55 minutes, or until fully cooked and lightly browned on top.
  • Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen after completely cooling down. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.
