  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk Fresh ingredients yield the best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

For the Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup chocolate chips Semi-sweet or dark chocolate can be used.
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil Provides shine; can substitute with neutral oil.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until fully combined.
  • Using your hands, shape the coconut mixture into dome shapes and place them on a lined tray.
  • Refrigerate the molded domes for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil. Heat in 20-second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth.
  • Remove the coconut domes from the refrigerator, and carefully dip each into the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coating.
  • Place the coated domes back on the lined tray and let them sit until the chocolate hardens.

Notes

Serve chilled for the best texture. Can store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for 2 months.
