  • 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced thinly Tender and flavorful; can substitute with flank steak or chicken breast.
  • 1 each bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 each onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce Can replace with hoisin or mushroom sauce for a vegan option.
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp sesame oil Adds aroma and nuttiness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with cornstarch and a splash of soy sauce. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated beef to the pan and sear until browned, then remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, sauté garlic, onion, and bell pepper until tender.
  • Return the beef to the pan and stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, and beef broth. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Drizzle sesame oil over the dish just before serving.
  • Serve over rice or noodles.

Notes

For best results, slice beef thinly against the grain. Adjust seasonings to taste.
