Ingredients

Ham and Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 piece fully cooked ham (about 8-10 lbs)
  • 1 cup brown sugar Primary sweetness in the glaze, can be substituted with white sugar but will alter flavor.
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard Can be substituted with yellow mustard, altering flavor.
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar Can be substituted with lemon juice.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger until well combined.
  • Place the fully cooked ham in a roasting pan, allowing it to rest on a rack if you have one.
  • Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern to help the glaze penetrate.

Baking

  • Generously brush the glaze over the surface of the ham, making sure to get into the scored areas.
  • Loosely cover the ham with aluminum foil and bake for about 1.5 to 2 hours, basting with the glaze every 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes of baking to allow the glaze to caramelize.
  • The ham is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).

Serving

  • Let the ham rest for 15 minutes after removing it from the oven.
  • Slice the ham in thick or thin pieces and serve.

Notes

Store leftover ham in an airtight container or wrap it tightly to maintain flavor. Best enjoyed within 5 days if refrigerated.
