Seafood

  • 1 pound large shrimp (raw, deveined, tail removed) Thaw if frozen and pat dry before seasoning.

Meat

  • 1 pound top sirloin steak (cut into 1-inch cubes) Can substitute with flank steak or ribeye.

Sauce Ingredients

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 small yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic (minced)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream Can substitute with half-and-half for a lighter version.
  • 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese Use fresh for a smoother sauce.
  • to taste blackened seasoning
  • to taste Kosher salt and black pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a bowl, toss the raw shrimp with blackened seasoning until evenly coated. Let them sit for a few minutes for more flavor.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the seasoned steak cubes and cook until browned on all sides, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter in the skillet. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Whisk in the heavy cream, then stir in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Keep stirring until the sauce is smooth. Season with additional blackened seasoning, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  • Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet, stirring to coat in the Alfredo sauce. Finally, add the sautéed shrimp and seared steak, tossing everything together.
  • Serve hot in bowls, garnishing with chopped parsley and extra grated Parmesan if desired.

Notes

For a spicy version, add 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix. For a veggie option, replace shrimp and steak with your favorite vegetables. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator or freeze for longer storage.
