  • 2 cans cans of black beans, drained and rinsed The star of this dip.
  • 1 unit lime, juiced Adds acidity.
  • 1-2 unit jalapeños, chopped Adjust for desired heat.
  • 2 cloves cloves of garlic, minced For flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin For earthy spice.
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika Adds depth of flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper To taste.
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped Adds freshness.
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion Optional for crunch.

Preparation

  • In a food processor, add the rinsed black beans, lime juice, jalapeños, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Pulse the mixture until it’s creamy and there are no large bean pieces left.
  • Transfer the dip to a mixing bowl and fold in the chopped cilantro and diced red onion, if using.
  • Taste your dip and adjust seasoning as necessary before serving.
  • Transfer the dip into a serving bowl and enjoy with tortilla chips, veggie sticks, or pita bread.

Notes

This dip can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator. For a milder version, omit jalapeños. Garnish with extra cilantro for presentation.
