  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Traditional breadcrumbs provide structure; can use panko for crunch.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds depth; substitute with nutritional yeast for dairy-free.
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley Fresh herbs enhance flavor.
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion Adds sweetness; can use shallots.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances flavor.
  • 2 large eggs Acts as a binder.
  • 1 teaspoon salt To taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper To taste.
  • 2 cups rich tomato sauce For serving and flavor infusion.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the sweet Italian sausage, ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion, garlic, eggs, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

Baking

  • Place the meatballs on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until browned.

Sauce Preparation

  • In a large skillet, heat the tomato sauce over medium heat.
  • Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve the meatballs with pasta, on a sub, or with grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Store refrigerated meatballs in an airtight container for up to 4 days; freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave or skillet with sauce.
